This is the coat that Nana T. bought for Maddie as an early Christmas gift. She loves this coat so much she wanted to sleep with it. She DID NOT want to take it off. She finally compromised by taking it off but she had to continue holding it and petting the fur around the hood.

This weekend was crazy fun! So many things to talk about, so I may spread it out over a few posts this week. My husband’s family came to visit and they are always so much fun. But the best part was spending time with my niece Kira and corrupting her while her parents were not around. Saturday night, Chris and I introduced the girls to finger painting.

We did this on the front porch and there were a lot of people out and about in our neighborhood enjoying the nice weather. The neighbors next door have four kids and as soon as they saw the finger paints there was much laughter. And I was thinking, what’s so darn funny? I am a little slow sometimes but now I get it.

I realize now that finger paint looks like pudding to children and we tell them not to play with their food. It does stain, no matter what the box tells you, it will leave a stain. Yes neighbors, I can hear you laughing. Maddie thought is was some new fangled toe nail polish. Kira looked at me like I was crazy (she does this a lot and she is a smart little girl), it’s the same look that says “Am I supposed to be doing this?” After the finger painting, the girls took a bubble bath with way too many bubbles, courtesy of Chris who thinks there is no such thing as too many bubbles. Kira was a little concerned and I don’t blame her. But I think Chris and I finally won her heart by giving her juice and chocolate chip cookies after 8 pm.

Note to Kira: When you are with Aunt Lorie and your parents are not around – Just go with it. I promise to take the blame for everything.
