Trimming the Tree

Jingle bells – Jingle bells – Jingle all the way!  Oh what fun it is to blog, if I only knew what to say. Hey!

Tree trimming pictures for all to enjoy.  By the way, we went with a fake tree.  The fireplace + real tree = house fire.  Maybe next year…

Not Ready to Make Nice

I recently purchased the latest Dixie Chicks CD.  I am not a huge fan of country but I have never considered them to be country.  I love the sound and relate to some of the lyrics.  I am listening to the CD now and it just reinforces my disappointment in some people.  It is hard for me to understand how you can take someone’s words so personal when they were not directed at you and they were not said to you.  She made a statement in another country, a statement that she believed in at the time.  Something she was passionate about and suddenly freedom of speech is only acceptable if everyone agrees with you?  What happened to that freedom and why are so many people angry?  I don’t necessarily agree with what she said but I feel she had a right to say it.  Just because she is a public figure does not mean she can no longer voice her opinion.  Not ready to make nice is exactly how I would feel if I were treated the way they have been treated.  They are talented artists and should not be treated as traders because they oppose the war and the decisions of our president.  If the statement had been made in the U.S. I am guessing that there wouldn’t have been such an uproar.  She made the statement in France – OH MY GOD let’s burn her at the stake!  Last I heard this was a free country and no matter where you are you should be able to practice the same freedoms as you would at home.

Go buy their latest CD because the way I see it, no matter what you think of the Dixie Chicks,  they were treated unfairly and should be repaid for the injustice that some U.S. citizens have handed down to them.  Then maybe they will be ready to make nice.

Forgive, sounds good.  Forget, I’m not sure I could.  They say time heals everything – But I’m still waiting – I’m through with doubt – There’s nothing left for me to figure out – I’ve paid the price – And I’ll keep paying – I’m not ready to make nice – I’m not ready to back down – I’m still mad as hell and – I don’t have time to go round and round and round – It’s too late to make it right – I probably wouldn’t if I could – ‘Cause I’m mad as hell – Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should – I know you said – Can’t you just get over it – It turned my whole world around – And I kind of like it – I made my bed and I sleep like a baby  – With no regrets and I don’t mind saying – It’s a sad sad story when a mother will teach her – daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger – And how in the world can the words that I said – Send somebody so over the edge – That they’d write me a letter – Saying that I better shut up and sing – or my life will be over – I’m not ready to make nice- I’m not ready to back down – I’m still mad as hell and – I don’t have time to go round and round and round – It’s too late to make it right – I probably wouldn’t if I could – ‘Cause I’m mad as hell – Can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should – Forgive sounds good – Forget, I’m not sure I could – They say time heals everything- But I’m still waiting

Hooray For Stuff

The Internet is a wonderful tool.  Especially for someone like me who is not fond of shopping in crowded stores full of rude people.  My goal this year is to do all of my shopping online.  So far I am half way there.  I have not purchased a single gift in a retail store.  I am finding great deals online and I see no reason to enter a store to buy run of mill items that most people could buy for themselves.  I am looking for unique items for the people on my list.  I have already found several items for the kids on my list.  Items that I could not find in the store and I am getting great deals.  I found several sites that list promotional codes to save on shipping and the total cost of your order.  The sites list all the promotional codes for the major stores online and offer 10-25% off your total order and some offer rebates.

Happy Shopping!  Oh yeah, don’t forget to visit Mighty Goods – It’s a great site for unique gifts for everyone on your list.

Travelin’ Girl

This morning Maddie headed out with Nana G. to visit Terry and Taisia’s house.  She was a little confused and worried about what was going on.  I told her she was going with Nana G. on a road trip to see Kira but she wasn’t sure how she was getting to Nana G.  This shouldn’t be that hard to figure out but she was making it really hard.  She asked who was going to work and I said Mom and Dad.  She asked “But who will stay with me?”  and I said no one is staying with you, I will drop you off and Nana G.’s house and you will leave from there.

She was running around the house this morning staying very close so that I wouldn’t forget her.  She kept saying “I don’t even know how to drive, someone needs to stay with me.”  She had to get her lip gloss and four quarters to take with her.  Two quarters for her and two for Kira.  She then began telling me what they were going to buy with their money.

I know that she will be fine in the car but it is hard letting her go any distance without me.  It is getting a little easier and it does make a huge difference that she really, really wants to go.  I don’t think I would let her go if she wasn’t so darn excited about seeing her cousin.

That is the fun part, seeing her with her cousin.  She has talked about her all week.  She can’t wait to see her!  I can’t wait to see her either so I hope she gets all the hugs and kisses she wants because when I get there Kira will be all mine.  Well at least until Jason and Pilly get there.

My Laptop

Oh, how I love my laptop.  After returning the other laptop, the one that was in my possession for  less than a week, I have grown very fond of the new one.  It kept me warm in bed last night while I wrote in my journal.  Is that too much information?  Basically I have nothing else to write about except for the sexy little laptop.  I think I need to name it like some men name their cars.  Of course I always laughed at the men who named their cars but now I can relate to them.  Scary thought…any suggestions?  A mans name or a womans name?  It seems that all men name their cars after women.  Sexy women.  I need a sexy manly name for my black laptop.  Maybe Denzel?
